When I started working with Giselle*, I saw myself in her. This is why it was so life changing, and at times difficult, to work with her.
Giselle had been in business for 5 years. Five years where she hit all her monetary goals, but was left feeling unfulfilled. Five years that she was always pivoting her business.
Her concept of pivoting was: burning it all to the ground and do a 180 change. When we started working together, her vision was not clear. She didn't know what she wanted out of her business, and her life.
Things were either great or a nightmare. If one thing in her business was not perfect - it was time for a pivot.
A lot of our behavior is learned behavior. For Giselle, things were either right or wrong - there was no grey zone. With all her self-development work, she always felt that her business needed to completely change for her to be able to be herself, and share this new aspects of who she is now.
Even though Giselle came to me to help her with her business, I had to ask her permission to change the focus: I wanted to focus on her LIFE. We needed to reset her system so she could create a clear vision in her mind of what she wanted out of life. With all her pivots, she was still acting as if the goal for her business was a "laptop life", when she was now considering starting a family. We needed to find congruency between her life goals and her business goals.
I say this, time and time again: your life is not your business. Your business is simply part of your life.
A holistic approach was what we needed, and, fortunately, Giselle was all in in changing our focus.
With Giselle, we focused on her IDENTITY. What she believed to be true about herself. We did a lot of subconscious work with journaling, custom meditation, hypnosis and tapping. We added a lot of blank spaces and movement to her days. As a good generator, I wanted Giselle to focus on releasing stagnant energy, and focusing her energy on things that brought her joy. And learning that rest is not a reward - when she needed to rest, she should rest deeply.
In a few weeks, we were able to get the picture of her dream life: her business was a piece of it, but smaller than what she thought it should be. We worked on releasing limiting beliefs, and the key for Giselle, as she told me later on, was the fact that she saw this vision as an evolution of who she used to be. She understood that her business could be the same: you don't need to burn things down and start fresh, sometimes, you just need to give it room for growth.
She also had to open space for who she is now, and who she wants to be. When she started her business, she as a single 20-something girl that wanted the freedom to travel. Now, she was recently married and was talking about starting a family. She noticed that while she loved the travel life, she wanted to be rooted. She wanted to build a foundation for the family she was creating - a foundation that she didn't have growing up.
By having a clear vision, and allowing herself to evolve, her business started to support her life - emotionally, socially, and financially.
Giselle says that she never believed in those people that say "I make $200,000 working only 20 hours a week", until she was one of them. Her realization was: that was only possible when she decided that this was the only outcome, and develop the foundations, both in her mindset and her business, for that to become a reality.
