If you’ve been in business for more than five minutes, you know the launch anxiety spiral. You’ve likely experienced both the high of a successful launch and the crash of one that didn’t meet expectations. And somewhere along the way, you started believing that your launch results were a direct reflection of your worth as a human being.

But your nervous system doesn’t always get that memo.

The Hidden Truth About Launch Dysregulation

Here’s what most business coaches won’t tell you: launching activates our primal survival responses. When we put ourselves and our work out into the world, our nervous system interprets visibility as potential danger. It’s the same system that kept our ancestors alive when being rejected by the tribe meant literal death.

Your body doesn’t know the difference between a saber-tooth tiger and a low-converting sales page.

Common somatic cues of launch dysregulation include:

  • Shallow, rapid breathing or holding your breath
  • Tension in shoulders, jaw, or stomach
  • Racing thoughts or mental fog
  • Sleep disruption or exhaustion
  • Digestive issues
  • Emotional swings between excitement and dread
  • Compulsive checking of metrics

The problem isn’t that you feel these things—it’s that most entrepreneurs try to push through them instead of working with their nervous system.

The Somatic Rhythm of Selling

Sustainable selling requires what I call “somatic rhythm”—the ability to move fluidly between activation and rest, visibility and integration, effort and ease.

Think of your nervous system like a wave. In launch mode, you need periods of activation (creating content, showing up live, making offers) followed by intentional regulation (breath work, grounding, rest). Most entrepreneurs get stuck in chronic activation, which leads to burnout, resentment, and launches that feel forced rather than flowing.

The key is learning to sell from a regulated state, not a dysregulated one.

When you’re regulated:

  • Your energy feels sustainable, not manic
  • You can handle “no” without it meaning anything about you
  • Your messaging comes from authenticity, not desperation
  • You trust the process instead of controlling every outcome

Breathwork for Visibility: Your Pre-Launch Ritual

Before you hit “publish” on that vulnerable post or hop on that sales call, try this 4-minute breathwork sequence designed specifically for visibility and selling:

1. Grounding Breath (1 minute)

  • Inhale for 4 counts through your nose
  • Hold for 4 counts
  • Exhale for 6 counts through your mouth
  • Repeat 4-5 times
  • Feel your feet on the ground, your back against your chair

2. Heart Opening Breath (2 minutes)

  • Place one hand on your heart, one on your belly
  • Breathe into your heart space for 4 counts
  • Pause for 2 counts
  • Exhale from your heart for 4 counts
  • With each inhale, imagine your heart expanding
  • With each exhale, imagine sending your energy into the world

3. Power Breath (1 minute)

  • Stand up, feet hip-width apart
  • Inhale, raising your arms overhead
  • Exhale powerfully through your mouth, bringing arms down
  • Feel your own strength and capacity
  • Repeat 6-8 times

This sequence moves you from fight-or-flight into what I call “sacred activation”—alert and energized, but grounded and connected.

Energetic Launch Prep: Beyond the Strategy

Most launch prep focuses on funnels, copy, and timelines. But what about preparing your nervous system for the intensity of being seen?

Two weeks before your launch:

  • Begin daily nervous system regulation practices
  • Start sharing more vulnerably in your content
  • Practice receiving compliments and criticism with equal grace
  • Set energetic boundaries around how much you’ll check metrics

During your launch:

  • Morning regulation ritual before checking any numbers
  • Midday nervous system reset (even 2 minutes helps)
  • Evening integration practice to process the day’s energy
  • Daily reminder of your inherent worth, separate from results

After your launch:

  • Intentional integration period (resist jumping into the next thing)
  • Celebration ritual, regardless of numbers
  • Honest reflection on what your nervous system learned
  • Rest and replenishment before the next activation cycle

The Truth About Worthiness and Results

Here’s the paradigm shift that changes everything: Your worth was established long before you had a business. Your value isn’t in question—it never was.

Results are feedback, not verdicts. A launch that doesn’t hit your goal isn’t a reflection of your worth; it’s information about timing, messaging, audience readiness, or a dozen other variables that have nothing to do with your inherent value.

When you can separate your identity from your outcomes, you free yourself to take bigger risks, be more authentic, and paradoxically, often see better results because you’re not launching from a place of desperation.

Moving Forward: From Survival to Thrival

The entrepreneurs who build sustainable, profitable businesses aren’t the ones who never feel launch anxiety—they’re the ones who know how to work with their nervous system instead of against it.

They’ve learned that regulation isn’t a luxury; it’s a business strategy.

They understand that their energy is their most valuable asset, and they protect it accordingly.
